Here's a pic of Mr. Brady and me during the open house. Normally, I sit in my office to teach so it was a nice change being in my chair with the dogs. Here's the interesting thing...I am usually pretty good about learning the kids names. But I greatly overestimated my skills for learning names online. I do know a few students names. But not that many. Mainly because I don't see every kid every day and when I do see them it's on a rather fuzzy camera screen. So tonight I am "pretending" that I know names. So I've already had several parents ask me about how their child is doing in the class. But ooops I really couldn't remember their names. So to each parent I am saying, "He/she is doing great!" I believe this is a good thing! Because parents of many of these kids expect the teachers to tell them about all of the bad behavior and bad grades. So to have one teacher say the kid is doing well in a class can really bolster that students confidence, plus it can build a stronger relationship between myself and that student and between them and their parents.

Open House
Well tonight is open house at my school. Since I teach online, I am currently relaxing in my poofy chair with my laptop.

It is amazing how much power we actually have in our hands without realizing it. A kind word and make a persons day whereas a bad one can have devastating effect. Some people are thick skined and don't react to anything, but others, a look is sometimes enough. I hope that I never hurt anyone with anything I ever say and do, even unintentionally.
I am sorry, but I am laughing.
but you are so right. Everyone is just doing fine by everyone's individual standards. We each live in our dream, in our own universe. Creating standards basically installs fear and lack of self worth in most of the class with only a few collecting power through praise.
